Dr. Bain serves as a Research Associate at excelleRx, Inc. He has an on-going program of research focused on advanced heart-failure patients at the end of life and has published multiple articles in peer-reviewed journals. He was recently invited to serve on the Heart Failure Advisory Board for Samaritan Hospice in Marlton, NJ. As a Research Associate, Dr. Bain plans, designs and conducts research projects; analyzes data; and prepares reports, papers and presentations of research findings. He was recognized for his outstanding achievements in pharmacy practice as recipient of the excelleRx Clinical Excellence Award in 2004, and he has been instrumental in the development of evidence-based guidelines for the hospice and frail elderly population. Dr. Bain earned his BS and PharmD from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science/USP. He is also Board Certified in Pharmacotherapy Specialty, Certified in Geriatric Pharmacy, and a Fellow of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists.

Dr. Maxwell is the Vice President of Research at excelleRx, Inc. Dr. Maxwell comes from the Center for Palliative Care in the Department of Family Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia where she spent four years as Executive Director. In this capacity, she developed a palliative care curriculum for medical students and residents and led the development of palliative care programs for the Jefferson Health System in Philadelphia. Prior to focusing on palliative care, she was an Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist for many years. A widely published author and lecturer, Maxwell is recognized as a leader in the palliative care field. She was named a Project on Death in America Faculty Scholar from the Open Society Institute in July 2002. She is involved in several professional organizations including the Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Care Nurses Society and is on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Pain Nursing. She received her PhD from the University of Pennsylvania, where she researched end-of-life decision making and hospice care.
