Medicare Rates May Affect Hospice Stays
A new study published by Susan Miller of Brown University examining nursing homes from 1999 to 2006 found that the average length of stay increased from 46 days to 93 days. The study suggests that the medicare reimbursement policies for hospice patients in nursing homes may be a contributing factor in the rising number of very long stays.
